Welcome to the Art Nook Sunnyvale!
Hello! My name is Iris, an artist and a mom, and I love teaching art to kids.
I have been volunteering to teach kids art with the city of Sunnyvale for the past 10 years, and I have formal education in art, and specific training in teaching art to young children.
I offer kids art lessons in a group setting (max 6 students ages 6-14) with personalized attention.
These lessons are perfect for the kid who enjoys art, and wants to learn new things.
During these art lessons your child will be guided at whatever level they currently enjoy, as they explore creativity and have FUN!
My style of teaching is warm, kind, and emotionally sensitive.
Your child will come home with a unique interpretation of the topic explored during lessons.

My 6yo daughter loved her first session of art classes with Ms. Iris so much that we have signed up for another series. My daughter has always been obsessive about creating and drawing, but in just a month she reached another level under Ms. Iris's nurturing and kind guidance. Compared to prior classes we've enrolled in, where it was primarily step-by-step, one-dimensional guided images, Ms. Iris has taught more complicated concepts such as shadow, perspective, and shading. She's introduced my daughter to new materials like graphite and oil pastel, and projects have included self-portraits, still-life, and abstract art. My husband has affectionately referred to Ms. Iris as a "fairy godmother," as she takes her students into her beautiful garden to source sketch references, including flowers she encourages the children to taste and bring home. Her teaching style is calm, accepting, and generous, a perfect match for my daughter. She returns home from class eager to share her newly acquired knowledge with the rest of the family. Ms. Iris offers a magical, unique experience, and I cannot recommend her enough!
